Windrush 75: An Award-Winning Production
Trevor Nelson hosted this special concert at The Royal Albert Hall to mark the 75th anniversary of Windrush, celebrating the impact of Caribbean culture on British life.
The production was proudly awarded an ARIA Gold at the Radio Academy ARIAS 2024 for Best Coverage of an Event. Our Creative department worked closely with Trevor Nelson to produce the entire show, with audio recorded and mixed by our Broadcast audio team for BBC Radio 2.
This one-off concert featured a range of guest stars, including Craig David, Beverley Knight, R&B group Loose Ends, saxophonist YolanDa Brown, calypsonian Tobago Crusoe, ‘G-folk’ pioneer Hak Baker and award-winning author and poet Salena Godden. Accompanied by the Chineke! Orchestra conducted by Chris Cameron. The concert captured the breadth of musical influence which the Windrush generation has had on British culture over the last 75 years.
The concert was broadcast on BBC Radio 2 in June 2023 as part of the BBC’s programming to mark the Windrush anniversary.
